Hey, I just got C++ Builder 5 yesterday as a gift, and untill now I''ve been using MSVC6 as my compiler. I still plan on using MSVC6 for my DDraw games, but I rather use CBuilder for my tools, because it would be faster for me to do so. Now my question is, does anyone know of a really good book or webpage that teaches you the basics to some-what of an advanced level of borlands win32 api wrapper? (I forgot the exact name) Thanks, Owen

Ah, god is good, another convert to the BCB Camp (j/k)
Ok time to explain.
The VCL (Visual component library) is comprised of components, which are based on classes, but w/ some extra methods, etc. w/ it.
It is based on the delegation theory. Event handlers - closures - are used to delegate handlers to other methods, in other components or forms. Properties allow the BCB IDE to automatically write out all the properties in each component to a file. To begin, try this:
New application - you should now have a normal looking window.
Go to the standard tab at the component palette and drop down an TButton. (it''s the one that looks like a button ). CLick on it and then click anywhere on the form (your normal looking window)
Then, double click on the button. The code editor should pop up, just put:

ShowMessage("BCB Rocks! MSVC Sucks! Use this!");

And run (F9). Once run, you should get a window w/ a button on it. CLick on it, and the message should pop up. Oh yeah, try looking at the property editor at the side of the screen, w/ things like Caption, Color, Font, Name, etc. Try messing around w/ it, for instance Color, and you will see a immediate change in the form.
Never mind, I have a better idea - go get Learn BCB 5 in 21 days (or something similar).
And for DirectX, you can get libraries of components much like the standard ones that implement / encapsulate directx for you.
(for tools / importing files etc).
