This is absolutely ridiculous...I'm usually not one to complain about the weather because I know that it doesn't get much more random than Ohio but this really tops the cake... First we didn't have cold weather or snow until the second week of December. Then we got an ice storm that took out most of the area's power and telephones (even Nextel phones were down) over the Christmas weekend. Then within a few days it was 50-60 degrees and ever since then its been raining. We have already beat the precipitation average (maybe the record) for the month in the first week. Rivers are flooding everwhere. I'm just glad I didn't buy a season pass to Snow Trails or get new boarding gear. I wonder if I will even get to go once...

I've actually been really happy thus far. I despise cold weather, but there's not much I can do about it during the winter since I'm living in Jersey. The warm temperature has been awesome for me; New Years morning I walked (well..stumbled) out of my friend's house without a coat on, with the sun beaming. Felt great.

Of course, now it's raining and dismal...and I'm sick, too.

It is seriously a bummer. Some mountains are allready closing. I have only gone once (I ski in the parks) and most of the features in the parks that are normally open at the start of december aren't even open yet. It really isn't a great winter thus far.

However for year round skiing check out whisler or mt hood.

It's been a late winter here in Washington. This last week it's been sunny but freezing. It's supposed to finally snow this weekend, and I'm hoping for a day off.

It never gets cold here in Washington. Try living in the midwest.

Haha... I read this and thought, he must be from Ohio.

Sure enough...

They didn't plow the streets by me for two days... my basement flooded this morning... Gotta love Ohio.

You should see what's happening ALL over Iowa. First, we had ice problems. Very hard to see but very much present and slick. Now we're getting nonstop snow! We've gotten about 6-8in already and all throughout the night it's supposed to keep coming until about 8-14in! This one place in central iowa arleady had 13 inches of snow! Our cold weather began about a week before today.

We are currently ice in a bit. Not too bad. It did get me out of two days of work this week. Everyone was going to work 6 days this week. 4 day work week when I though I would be working 6. I can live with that. Of course I still have heat, electric, and phone. I think I'll take me a nice nap.

I'm hoping it'll snow here too. If it does, I'm skipping school and going up to one of the passes =P

It's been raining all month essentially here in los angeles, totally strange since it usually just rains one week then back to sun the rest of the year. It was like, torrential rains, then new years day it's beautiful, then torrential rains the next few days. (It hasn't rained on the rose bowl/parade in like 55 years, so nature is consistent at least)

Aahhh, living in the Middle East has it's advantages after all. You gotta love our winters (if you can call them that). The moment it goes below 15C (about 60F) everyone starts bitching about how cold it is.

Another round of storms is heading to the US: Trio of Storm Systems Could Have Devastating Impact on U.S.

Quote:

WASHINGTON - Moisture-laden storms from the north, west and south are likely to converge on much of America over the next several days in what could be a once-in-a-generation onslaught, meteorologists forecast Tuesday.

If the gloomy computer models at the U.S. Climate Prediction Center are right, we'll see this terrible trio:

* The "Pineapple Express," a series of warm wet storms heading east from Hawaii, drenching Southern California and the far Southwest, which already are beset with heavy rain and snow. It could cause flooding, avalanches and mudslides.
* An "Arctic Express," a mass of cold air chugging south from Alaska and Canada, bringing frigid air and potentially heavy snow and ice to the usually mild-wintered Pacific Northwest.
* An unnamed warm, moist storm system from the Gulf of Mexico drenching the already saturated Ohio, Tennessee and Mississippi valleys. Expect heavy river flooding and springlike tornadoes.

All three are likely to meet somewhere in the nation's midsection and cause even more problems, sparing only areas east of the Appalachian Mountains.

"You're talking a two- or three-times-a-century type of thing," said prediction center senior meteorologist James Wagner, who's been forecasting storms since 1965. "It's a pattern that has a little bit of everything."
...

Today was fairly nice here as the rain let up, but it's supposed to start up again tomorrow through the end of the week. The ground is already saturated. It's rained 7 inches so far this year, which is about 70% of normal. Anyway, we need the rain out here as we've been in something of a drought. If all the snow dumped into the Rockies that would be great as the spring run off might save the Colorado and a few other rivers.
