Hey there, Needed: Coders (1, experienced) Modelers (2-3, beginner to semi-experienced) Ok, firstly, no pay unless the project sells. Secondly, all applicants must be dedicated to this, im looking for a permanent team. Although if you are in another team and want to help when you can then i'de appreciate it also. You'll find details of the project i am recruiting for on my other posts entitled, "Beginners Team Wanted", and "Beginners team again". Contact me if interested at; MSN: razerwing2000@hotmail.com YIM: pheonyx04@yahoo.co.uk AIM: Grand Pheonyx E-Mail: pheonyx04@yahoo.co.uk If experienced, please include samples of previous work. Thx

Just a suggestion, you might want to link people to your other posts, because no one wants to go searching for them...

and how does this work?

"Coders (1, experienced)" AND " "Beginners Team Wanted", and "Beginners team again". "

which is it? beginner? or experienced? and also, you may want to present some proof that your project is going somewhere, because im sure every person at gamedev.net has joined a doomed project as an eager begginer, people want to know that your project is different and will not fail. (asking for previous work from the other person isnt out of line though, YOU still need to know that the person isnt going to fail you)
in this forum its kinda a mutual thing, you need to prove yourself and your project to your prospective members, AND they need to prove themselves to you

hope that helps

When General Patton died after World War 2 he went to the gates of Heaven to talk to St. Peter. The first thing he asked is if there were any Marines in heaven. St. Peter told him no, Marines are too rowdy for heaven. He then asked why Patton wanted to know. Patton told him he was sick of the Marines overshadowing the Army because they did more with less and were all hard-core sons of bitches. St. Peter reassured him there were no Marines so Patton went into Heaven. As he was checking out hi

Basically what i meant was i was looking for a beginners team but its better having experienced coders, although i still was interested in beginners, and as for modelers a little exp was hoped for.

All projects are a near enough gamble, but if you want an answer, then its this project is likely to succeed because it can't really fail. The main point to it is that its an experience point for beginners and others alike, as long as you gain understanding, knowledge, and experience of how the process works then the task is done, although i am seriouse about getting through it till the end.

Another reason i wanted a beginners team and was hoping to also find experienced coders and modelers alike is that the beginners are lival to get stuck at some point, and some exp'ed help would be just the thing to do the trick of getting them clear about the problem and how to handle it.

Also i know its a pain finding them and im sorry about that lol.

The basics are that its an action/platformer, similar to the format of Devil May Cry/Spawn PS2. That may sound a little dumb as im after a mainly beginners team but it will work. Sorry if i seem vague on it. but if anyone is interested just contact me through the above methods, or reply here obviously.

Thx

P.S. Sorry i forgot to say that we dont have any proof as we have only just finished the analysis phase. The design and implementation arent going to be that effective without a full team.
So far i have gathered;

1 coder(semi-experienced),
1 modeler(semi-experienced,
2 mappers (1 beginner who knows basic coding and 1 beginner),
1 concept artist (great, but you cant really have a beginner CA, as they must be good to be a CA in the first place)
And myself as an animator/modeler/coder/CA (im only basic in them although i know afew coding languages, good artist and animation is simple enough.)

I have not worked for any projects before, so as a result i cannot offer you any evidence of my own unfortunately. Although if you are interested you will get to know that everyone is capable.

Anyway Thx for taking the time to read ¦:o)>

Hi again,
Well, most of these projects are generally ill-fated, but having said that, i would be interested in joining AS A PROGRAMMER, for the sake of getting some more group experience.

Now, there are a few questions i have for you, i will probably contact you separately and ask, but here they are:

What language have you chosen?(im assuming c++)
are you going to be using a premade engine like ogre?(hope not) if not What API's have you chosen? (being one of the programmers would i be able to choose?)

Graphics:
Direct3D or OpenGL
Sound:
DirectSound or OpenAL or FMOD or other
Input:
Direct Input or SDL or other
Networking:
Winsock or SDL_net or Direct Play
Physics:
Tokamak or in house basic physics/collision detection or other

I have experience in the following areas:
I know openGL and basic direct3d
I know OpenAL
I know Direct Input
I know Winsock (its been a while now though)
and i am currently implementing my own basic collision detection for my own personal projects

tell me if your interested <a href="mailto:Ademan555@hotmail.com>Ademan555@hotmail.com

Yeh i would love to have you on the team.

Btw, although WinSock is user friendly isnt it kinda outdated, and as DirectPlay goes, its complicated to set up and as far as i know it totally criples servers.
We werent thinking of netwoking it anyway.

You have a big say in it of coarse, if you cant use a certain kind of language of engine then we cant make you lol.

Unfortunately i was thinking of ogre but i cant find anyone to build it. Although i was also thinking of the torque engine although when researching it back then i overlooked the $100 fee for the soarce lol. So yeah if you want to choose an engine im sure youll know betterthan me, cause Ogre was the only one i like the look of except the torque.

As for Graphics, OG was the plan.
Sound, i was strongly going for FMOD (btw did you mean Fmod or nativeFmod?)
Well, the guys at Sourcefourge use direct intput, and i know its a great thing from what others tell me so thats whats hopefully being used, anywho ill tell you everything else when we can talk. but i got work in the mornin so i gtg.

later and i look forward to talking to you. :-)
