hello I am working with Jim Adams book "Programming Role Playing Games with DirectX" and i am trying to compile an example about MapICS, but it wont let me because it says the following: error C2039: 'Begin' : is not a member of 'ID3DXFont' error C2039: 'End' : is not a member of 'ID3DXFont' ... error C2660: 'ID3DXSprite::Draw' : function does not take 7 arguments error C2660: 'ID3DXSprite::Begin' : function does not take 0 arguments I have no idea on what is going on here, because it is BS that 'Begin is not a member of ID3DXFont' cuz i looked it up and it is one of the members Can someone help me? Are my libraries not linked?

it looks like you have a newer version of dx, and are trying to program for an older one. in older versions, draw took 7 arguments, for instance. check the sdk or msdn.

Alright, i am not familiar with this new ID3DXFont Interface

What would I do to begin drawing the font then, if the code appears like this:

//Saying that m_Font is a preinitialized font object

BOOL cFont::Begin()
{
if(m_Font == NULL)
return FALSE;
if(FAILED(m_Font->Begin()))
return FALSE;
return TRUE;
}
