Hi. I'm currently using Direct Input 8 to handle the mouse in a windowed D3D application. However when Direct Input first initialises, the mouse cursor completely disappears. If I alt-tab to change the focus it comes back and stays back even when the D3D window becomes the focus again. Any ideas whats happening here and how I get the mouse cursor to display from the off??

Cheers for that. Had the exclusive flag set myself. Funny how the cursor persists after switching the focus off and on again though.

When calling "SetCooperativeLevel" you can use the flag DISCL_NONEXLUSIVE to keep displying the mouse cursor. And for you PumpkinPieman, try the DISCL_EXCLUSIVE flag instead. If you're not calling this function already, simply take a look in MSDN for more specific information.
Thank you my anonymous friend. :)
