glXCreateContext problem

donno if somebody is here knowing a bit about linux side opengl stuff but either this or somebody can point me to a better place to ask that question. on my desktop with an ATI Radeon 9600 using glXCreateContext works and delivers me a direct rendering context where i get pixel shader and vertex shader extensions on it. now on my laptop things are strangly different. although glxinfo shows vendor ATI and direct rendering enabled (which is needed) and doom3 starts up (just to crash, but ingame is shortly rendered with shaders, thus WORKS!) my system is correctly setup. but for some reason i never get a direct rendering context using glXCreateContext. somebody has an idea what i might do wrong that i do not get a direct rendering context all time? (and yeah, there is no shader support on non-direct rendering contexts... i can't use them).

hunted down the problem. my system has a little special configuration which results in the app to link against the wrong libGL.so

problem? how can i force g++ to link against /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so and only against this one?

nah... this does not solve the problem as i've got the follwing:

/usr/lib/opengl/xorg-***/libGL.so
/usr/lib/opengl/ati/libGL.so

/usr/X11R6/libGL.so is linked to the ati libGL.so . but due to search order in ./configure i end up with the xorg one which is plain software mode. what i need is a way to change my configure.ac to querry for only the /usr/X11R6/libGL.so and no other. any ideas how to do this?

(yep, this goes into auto-tools)
