whats the best way of handling a Level in a game; i plan to combine indoor and outdoor level and my initial plan is to load everything (except for dynamic level objects like fountain and other moving stuff) from a big mesh created from a 3d modelling package like 3ds and import it in my engine, but ive got a problem on how to handle optimazation for this one (im thinking of using an octree) what do u think? can anyone suggest a better way of doing/handling level for a game? thanks

Hi,

you shouldn't store everything in one (!) big (?) .3DS file; this will be
fairly inefficient when your scene is getting larger and larger.
for the flexibility: make everything loadable at runtime - so you can
load/unload arbitrary level/game parts while playing.
