i am writing a fingerprint recongition system and want to be able to enhance the image using gabor filters. i have googles around and i found out what it does but not how it is done. any suggestions, examples would be great thanks in advance ructions

no examples there i'm afraid, but here is some notes for the implementation and few pretty images (IEEE paper)
Just try googling "gabor filters tutorial" and "gabor filters implementation"

Found this with google groups: sci.image.processing ... it's c implementation of gabor filtering (I suppose, just took a quick glance at it).
