So I am looking for a laptop for school. I dont care much for 3d performance. If it can play battlefield it will probably no longer be used for school work. Mostly I am interested in weight, size, batterylife, and less than 1000 US dollars. So here is what I was considering: link So is this a good deal? Although the batterylife it not great, it should be sufficent. My break is about 3 hours, and I could find an outlet I am sure. It got good reviews from PCworld, as well as editors choice.

I've used this laptop and I can say that it looks and feels great. It's got a good weight to it and is nice and compact. Overall, very sexy. It also has three USB ports.

I'm not sure how games would perform on it.. though I wouldn't expect too much.

Which is fine with me. I may be writing a bit of my game on it, but it is not high performance 3d.

Well the -M stuff is important for battery life over power. Personally I really like the Dell 9200 I brought, but that's more the $1000. I've heard good things about Dell support too.

The laptop you've chosen seems decent specs for what you want! The only let down seems to be the S3 graphics controller... but if you don't mind not doing much 3d stuff on it too much it should be fine.

hey,

yeah, that is a nice little laptop. I work at Future Shop and we sell those. I've used that exact model (since we have it set up as a demo), and i've actually sold quite a few of them. If you the main reason you want it is school then you'll love it. Light and easy to carry around. My advice for a carrying case would be to get one of the packsack types because it's not as obvious that your carrying around a lot of money in one of those, unlike the briefcase style ones. but then again, that really depends on where you go to school, and what it's like there.
