Hi, Would someone beable to tell me if it is possible to detect a button press etc. on the gameport without having to poll. Preferably using directx or win32. And if so suggest how. Thanks in advance Edit: Forgot to post which language. Preferably c++ or c#

In both DirectX or Win32 there's now way around some function having to be called repeatedly to get the current state. AFAIK there is no event being called on a button press.

You'll have to poll and do difference checks.

Hi,

no, of course you can access the gameport; but over Win32 you can access it
only as joystick - i'm not sure what you are interested in to do, but reading
any binary data, for example from an external custom datasource, is not
possible with this functions.
