I am thinking about buying an ALX sytem from Alienware for graphics programming. The main goal for me is to utilize the system for writing CG algorithms for high-level shading on GPU. What do you think? give me your comments. regards, Felix

Alienware is way over priced. I'd wait until that whole "multiple-gfx cards at once" technology is more mature, then build you own system using it. You'll save a lot of money.

Agreed...You pay big buck for the name...

If you have the money then buy it. Lots of people say they are overpriced, but sitting next to a well build system you build yourself, or sitting next to an Alienware ALX is very different. The ALX just feels so.. good.

It's also the best system to get because of speed/quality ;)

I'm going to have to agree. With an alienware system sitting next to you, the feeling is something like "OMG WHY DID I SPEND SO MUCH!?" while with your own system you have a feeling of acomplishment since you put a little work into it and there is more room for pride.

Agreed...I just built my computer and I still feel proud that I was able to asseble it (and save big by doing it). Plus, someone I know just bought and Alienware system and it is having much trouble...

Ok, cool. I will take your input into consideration. I just worry that if I build one myself I may miss something.
