Now this TV is just simply awesome.

I know if I had that kind of money I'd definitly go for it! How about you?

Everyone knew that it will eventually come to that.
However, the problem is that most of the movies are plain 2d, or, in best case, stereoscopic. And I don't know about others, but I use the TV only for movies (DVDs), not for watching TV.

It looks pretty cool, but it takes up a lot of space! The projector has to sit 5 feet behind the screen on the floor, and all that for just a 40" screen. It basicly is just a see-through rear projection T.V with some funky looking speakers.

Oh, I didn't read the article, thought they were talking about a 3d TV.
Anyway, I wouldn't trade my crappy LCD TV for that system, because, like the article says, it takes more space than a normal TV.
And 15K USD for the speakers alone??? WTF?

[lol] Point taken, but the technology is promising IMO. Even though it takes up more space than a tv, look at how mcuh you could save if you rae not using it. I guess it's not as good as I thought it was originally.

Wait... Where, exactly, is it "utilising holographic technology?"

My post above aside, basically what I am getting out of the article is this is a clear piece of glass that will reflect an image projected onto it very well.

...

They even go as far to say that you can use any projector to project the image onto the glass, so there is nothing special about the projection itself. Lots of nifty sounding buzz words in the article though! :)

That's what I'm getting too. That still doesn't say "holographic technology" to me.

To add to this, those are the most freaking ugly speakers I've ever seen.

Additionally, it uses a projector. Anyone who owns a projector will tell you how expensive replacement bulbs are. Expect to spend upwards of $100 every 2 months or so (depending on bulb life) replacing them.

If you are willing to pay ~15K usd for the speakers alone, 50 USD/month for the lightbulbs is like pocket change :D

Those speakers look insane though. They look like they would take up more room than the TV alone.

So it's basically a projector with a polarizing filter on it that projects onto a special plane of glass polarized on the back?
I like the DARK layout!

Yeah, this is an advancement over what we've had for years how?
