Hi there, I am new to eclipse and I wonder how you could do a "Welcome" page for a product. I found something about creating intro pages on http://help.eclipse.org/help30/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse.platform.doc.isv/guide/workbench_advext_intro.htm but I am not quite sure about the use of it. I wrote my plugin.xml according to this doc, it already speaks with the intro window, but doesn`t display any content. Instead of content I get an error-message "cannot create intro view proxy". Do I have to do write some additional code besides the extension points? Would be nice if you could get me any hint.

You may want to try the Eclipse newsgroups (make sure to search the archives first). They're very active, and you're more likely to find your answer there.

Didn't get any response on this problem in the newsgroup. Maybe one of you knows an tutorial or a better paper about it than the Eclipse documentation.

It's very hard to do better than the Eclipse documentation because it's the most up-to-date thing you'll have for your Eclipse version. Althoug, i must say it, it could be a lot more helpfull (being better organized, for example) for someone doing plug-ins.

I don't really know how to do the thing you asked, but apparently the article talks about a page that will only be displayed the first time you initiate the application. And, apparently, you need to have the html page somewhere in a server (that can be your error).

Another possible (although it might not sute u) approach is to add the wellcome page to the workbench help page. There's a tutorial about that on http://www.eclipse.org/articles/

If the newsgroups don't help u and u exclude the Eclipse help and www.eclipse.org, than i really don't know where u can get that info... i have the (personal) idea that the newsgroups are very friendly and actually that's where i got most of the info when i needed it.
