Hey all, Im making a library of special effects. It has a lot of cool things in it like fire and explosions and lighting effects, but I wanted to know how they would be best suited for you guys to use them. Things like ideal frame rate, resolution, file format, anything else you can thing of. As of right now, the files are in .tga format (targa sequence) so they have a tranparency layer, they will run at 30fps, and are 128X128 pixels. Thanks for your responses and I hope I can get this stuff out soon!

Sweet! My game runs at 45 FPS and at 320x240.

Good explosion animations are hard to come by, hope you've got a fair stack of 'em! :)

30fps is great, maybe even a little high, but the resolution is tiny! Is there any chance you could knock them out at about 512x512, or at least 256x256? For a 2D game 128x128 would be fine, but if you used a 128x128 explosion in a 3D game it'll probably contrast very highly with the higher resoultion textures on the objects surrounding them.

Still, cant wait to see what you've got!

Huh, was only thinking about 2D games but I guess you could use the explosions and fires in a 3D environment. I might add some 512 explosion versions. Thanks!

Heres a little taste of what kind of stuff I have.

FPS could be less and res is OK.
I'd wouldn't mind them being in png format.
There are explosion generators available out there already so it'd be the lighting effects I'd be interested in.
