[web] PHP with database question

the web based game that im going to create is with php. its going to be really small so i dont think i need a server. but i need a list of free databases that work well with php.

MySQL works great, but if the game is really small you can just run off of text files... But I would advise that you go for MySQL. It is a very handy DB to know, and it works great with Apache.
