I am begining with a very basic physics system of particles, represented only by points in Opengl/directx. But my problem is to get a good framework, to get an easy to use and intuitive way to put particles in screen, I mean a set of orthogonal projection matrix, scale of coordinates system (for example: screen of 1.0x1.0 or screen_width x screen_height (640x480), is better when you use floats a 1.0x1.0 screen, ...), use float units or integer units ... Thanks

I would use floats. Even if your screen coordinates are in ints, for updating particles, which you will want to be time based, you will have to be dealing with floating-point time.

Yep, use floats then round down when you come to plot: int(x+0.5)
