Hi, I'm trying play some midi files as background music in a tetris app I'm writing but it's giving me some problems. I used the JApplet and AudioClip classes to play the files in their own thread; this does work but after a few minutes the sound becomes distorted and scratchy. Sometimes the sound disappears completely creating bottlenecks and even bringing my whole system down with it on a few occasions. Help and advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I had this problem with the Java 1.5 beta, but not 1.4.2. I haven't done any sound programming since the Java 5 release, so no clue. What version are you using?

I stopped using the 1.5 beta and went back to 1.4.2. Like I said, I haven't done any sound programming since the 1.5 release, though.
