I was thinking, it would be so cool if someone would take OSS programs (things such as Quake 1&2, and various OSS libraries, maybe even OSes) and comment them very, very well, explaining the logic behind every line of code (or function), discussing possible improvements, etc. Could be very useful for many people, both beginners and advanced. The only question is how legal wold that be. There is no provision in the GPL that gives you the permission to do that (except maybe if such a book is considered distributing the code), but on the other hand, there are no provisions against it. So what do you think of the idea? Would you like to see such books?
