i need to create an application that shows what a webcam is transmitting in a remote pc . i was thinking to make it with java but i don't how . has anyone know any package in java that handles webcams, if there is one? thanks for all the help you can give

Hi there,

You'll want to make use of the Java Media Framework (JMF) which you can find at http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/

It's quite complicated (at least initially) but there are some tutorials around. Look at http://java.sun.com/dev/evangcentral/totallytech/jmf.html and http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-04-2001/jw-0406-jmf1.html
