Hello All, I was wondering if it is possible to write a MOG using Flash and something serverside like PHP. I think I have read that it is possible, but actionscript seems to be so limited as to what it can do. It's great for creating single player online games though, but it would be nice to experiment with a networked game. Thanks, -Jake

Sorry for the necro (or is it)... but just found this by accident. As to answer ur question, multiplayer online games in Flash is very possible, but depends on the type of game too. best bet is to use a flash comm server, and flash remoting is handy too. about interfacing with php, now that is something u need to look up.

Flash is very capable of delviering multiplayer games through the use of XMLSocket command.

One of the better Socket Servers for flash is Electro-Server you can get information on this here:

yeah.. forgot that XMLsocket thingy. If u're up to it, check out some FlashMX game programming books. I've browsed through a few, and most sure do seem to cover basic network gaming stuff using flash. Most ambitious example i've seen is a isometric-tiled 2 player game. worth checking out ur bookstores ;)
