Hello, i'm using Dev-Cpp to do some OpenGL-SDL, and these compiler warnings keep popping up: "no newline at end of file", for several of my projects files. I tried ( probably very naive) to put a newline at the end of the file, but that doesn't change a thing. Also din't found anything in compiler-options. Anybody can help me out ?? Thanks Peter

It's normal. The compiler will complain if you don't add new lines at the end of each file.. (but then happily compile them anyways). If you want it to go away, just add a new line to the files it complains about.

Sorry for posting this question to quick, found it in editor options,"allow cursor past end of file". Sounds logical.....

Peter

edit: thanks for reply.

actually if you look around the option (I think editor options) there should be an "ensure newline at end of file" option that you can check so that you never have to worry about. If you are using an older version it may not be present though.
ASCII stupid question, get a stupid ANSI

I can't seem to find it. I'm using 4.9.9.1 though.

Thanks

I'm using 4.9.9.2 and I do see that option. The compiler is just picky really. If you put an extra blank line at the end of each file, as has been mentioned, all the warnings *should* go away, really. If not, you missed some! [wink] If they still pop up, feel free to post some code and we can try it out in our compilers, if the warnings bug you. I know they do to me, so I can understand.

You might want to uncheck the option. Mine was checked to begin with so if you take it off, the warnings should go away. Here's a screen shot of where it's at.

Thanks for pointing that out Yohumbus! I would have never known that [smile]. I'm not much of a Dev user, but I'm starting to be [wink]

I don't have these options on 4.9.9.1, so maybe i should get 4.9.9.2.
Wil installing this mess up my .9.1 ?, cause i just got everything sort of like i want, also SDL.
Sorry cannot send any code or screenshots, i'm at work and do my programming on my laptop, cannot connect this to the net here, and my PC here uses NT, so i can't even use the memory stick.
