Embedded programming!

Original Post
I work on embedded systems programming and I have a CS degree. I can see and EE degree being useful too though. It really depends on what the curriculum is.

If someone wanted to have a career as a embedded programming which degree would be more appropriate?
1)computer science
2)computer engineering
3)electrical engineering w\computer science minor
It all depends on how much you like to investigate by yourself. I have a friend with an EE degree and hes good at programming as hell, while some of my classmates at collegue (Im into CS) barely know how to install programs in windows (but obviously they memorize all the theory so they have high grades - but no practical knowledge).
And about computer engineering and computer science, are they 2 different careers in North America or Europe???
I mean, Im studying here "systems engineering" (south america), but the curriculum is the same of that of CS in some well known collegue at US I dont know/care
At my university computer science is mostly software development with some theory. For any embedded systems/real time systems/control theory/etc you would go to computer engineering or electrical engineering.
BUT as with many many other discussions of this type, they deteriorate into pointless arguing because the exact curricula in EE, CE and CS vary greatly between universities.
I'm not suprised that he's good at programming, a lot of EEs have to take programming courses and write software for their courses. CE is less focused on the theory and software engineering than computer science, and more on building actual computers.
Perhaps you are in software engineering, I have not heard of system engineering before?

A embedded programming?

You can see?! That's so relevant! Incomplete sentence too.

Hell programs? "Im" isn't a word.

The answer is yes, you have heard of "systems engineering" before.
I'm studying EE myself and after 2 years I must say that I'm really happy with my choice. With EE you get into so many different fields and you don't lock yourself into software.
As far as embedded programming I think you'll do fine with any of these degrees if you have the required knowledge. Requiering this knowledge would probably be best done in a CE/EE program though. My feeling is that they don't teach too much low-level programming in CS at undergraduate level.
These were my biased opinions.

You registered just to post that? You don't have anything in life better to do? I hear minesweeper is fun.
Maybe you can write a grammar checker for embedded systems? :)
Apparently by fixing the grammar in it.
