When using VS6, I would, by habit, slam the ESC key whenever I saw that my builds had completed successfully. This caused the output window to close. I've been using VS.NET for a long time now, but the output window still drives me insane. It won't close when I press ESC if my mouse is hovering over top of it. Not that moving the mouse is too terribly hard, but it is driving me mad. Anyone know if its possible to have that window auto-close when I hit the ESC key, regardless of if the mouse is hovering over it?

you could write a macro like this
sub closeoutput	DTE.Windows.Item(Constants.vsWindowKindOutput).Closeend sub

and bind it to a key

or you could set the output window to auto-hide.

sorry, that's all I can think of for now
if you think programming is like sex, you probably haven't done much of either.-------------- - capn_midnight

It is set to auto-hide, which doesn't do anything if the mouse is hovering over it... ;P I've also tried binding ESC to various commands like Window.AutoHide and Window.CloseToolWindow, but still a mouse problem...

Macro thing didnt work though... I dont know much VB, but I suppose if I moved the mouse pointer inside that macro, it might work.

Anyone know how to move the mouse pointer??? :P

Well, figured out to set the mouse pointer, but that didn't do any good either. Apparently its just the ESC key; VS handles it differently. If I bind any other key to close that window everythig works ok.

Oh well.
