I use the recent replies list in my profile to get back to threads I was posting to. It's not yet been useful that it shows all replies seperately, rather than showing only the most recent reply for each thread. I'd suggest showing "recent threads this user has contributed to", with a link to their most recent post, a link to the current last page of the thread, and a link to an expanded list of replies on that thread (perhaps just the profile page with that thread expanded inline).

I think this came up before, and I would *really* love to see this implemented as an option to set.

It's not perfect, but the search facility in "View All Posts" allows you to group everything together... It still means that if you've posted 6 times to a thread, you get 6 entries (next to each other) in the results, but it works reasonably well for me [smile]

For example, Avatar God's 10 most recent threads in this forum, grouped together.

I feel... violated...

But really, it would be awfully nice to group them. Are we missing anything that would make this difficult?

//edit. Well, say I post twice in thread "A" and then three times in "B" followed by another in "A". How do we arrange them?

[lol] You were an easy target - Being logged in, it didn't seem easy to provide a listing of mine without including a "cp" mode in the URL...

I think it'd be a case of changing the definition of whats returned in that list.

Instead of "Some recent replies made on our forums" you'd need to have "The last 10 topics this user contributed to" (replace 10 with whatever number). That way, with your example you'd end up with only two entries - "Thread A" and "Thread B" - linking to the most recent contribution in each respective thread.

If the software were really clever, you'd get (with your example:

-------+-------+-----------------------------------------------------+Thread | Posts | Information on most recent post |-------+-------+-----------------------------------------------------+ A | 1,2,3 | Posted April 11, 2005 9:49:33 PM | | | "This is the first line in the 3rd/recent post..." |-------+-------+-----------------------------------------------------+ B | 1,2,3 | Posted April 11, 2005 9:41:47 PM | | | "This is the first line in the most recent post.." |-------+-------+-----------------------------------------------------+

The ordering of "A" and "B" in the list would be determined by which one you contributed to last. In your example, it'd initially be A->B, then it'd swap to B->A and then back to the A->B (your last of 6 posts is in A).

I would really love a more concise view like I suggested. I, as the OP, use that list to quickly navigate back to threads I've replied to - but I sometimes miss replies simply because they appear on the 2nd/3rd page...

Then again, last time I read through a similar suggestion/request whomever suggested the use of the bookmarks feature. I personally don't like to use this as I find this to be less visible/easy to use... Each to his/her own I guess!

Cheers,
Jack

Cool, I agree completely.

I *also* think that the new search feature should allow us to search for replies made by a particular user (or users). I realize this is currently possible, as demo'd by jolly, but heck if I can make use of it [grin].
