Here is my game... Requires: DirectX 9.0 Summer update or better... You move around the world, using ASDF keys and the mouse to look about. You can also jump using space key. I wanted to see how this not so materpiece fairs on your system. What framerate did you get, did it even load sucessfully load or did it crash and burn. Similary what hardware you were using. http://matrix.senecac.on.ca/~jlsawchu/alice_bk/alice.png http://matrix.senecac.on.ca/~jlsawchu/alice_bk/test.zip NOTES: I quite like the jump. The collison detection is not implemented very well, which creates some weird results (ie jumping in the coridors but being unable to move).

59FPS, Stable.

Your keys are WASD, not ASDF; as it should be, I was going to complain about it if that wasn't a mistake. Spacebar didn't appear to jump for me. Your program survived an alt-tab, but appeared to have been completely reset (the 'item' was back).

You let me optionally use my second monitor. Kudos for that. When running in Windowed mode, it's weird having the mouse move around behind the window as well as controlling the camera.

89FPS.

I couldn't jump, and the mouse sensitivity is just painfully low.

It looks like a decent start, though. [smile]

When I ran the main.exe, it showed the hardware detection dialog but everything was blank (all the dropdown lists were emtpy).

EDIT: I'm almost positive I have directx9.0c but I'm reinstalling it now and I'll try the game again.
EDIT2: The hardware detection now works but when I run the game, its just a full blue screen. The HUD is there though (59 fps). Sounds work too, but like I said, it's just an all blue screen.

Ran stable at 59 for about thirty seconds, then dropped to about 40 and fluctuated for the rest of the time.

Sorry. That was me.

Wow. I did it twice in a bloody row. That's just embarassing.

I can't make it run. It doesn't matter in which resolution, every time I try to run it it crashes and all I get to see is Windows' message that wants me to send the error data to Mircosoft :-)

Thanks everyone. Though it could be something else, it appears the code does not like GeForce cards. I have been testing with Radeons and according to my sample (small though they may be) it seems I will have to buy a GeForce.

Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? Also what would be comparable GeForce would be comparable to a Radeon 9600?

Great start.

edit: Just an idea. Don't make the jump linear. I would add an acceleration in the upward vector and let gravity slow it down and bring the character back down.
