[web] Dynamically creating controls in Flash through actionscript

Hello, I'd like to create controls through actionscript. I can create them through createClassObject, but they do not show in the movie unless I first place a control of each type I'm trying to create dynamically onto the stage first through Flash MX 2004 and then deleting it off the stage. I don't want to do that. Is there another way?
