Hi, I'm looking for a tools which helps me in creating "high quality" faces. I've worked with Poser at my school and I liked the simple interface and how quick I can get the face I wanted. But I'm not satisfied with the texture quality of the result. The textures were not very detailed, only 512x512 in size and no additional maps (bump, specular, reflection, etc.) could be created. in giving the model a more realistic shine. We also have 3Dmax but I'm not very familiar with it. I've mainly used it for small aditional work on existing models and it seems to me abit less specific to model a face from scratch. Is there any software (or plugin) out there which is specialized on creating head and faces, but with higher quality than poser (but with a bit of the interface philosophy of poser)? thanks a lot
I found a link to this. It is a Microsoft research thing but the 'internal website doesn't seem to be working. I have looked for other things but not found any.

I use ZBrush any time I need to pull out as much detail as possible in faces, or any organic form for that matter. Definately check it out - there's endless amounsts of tutorials for it.

If you don't know how to use it, Max is a bad way to go, as it requires A LOT of skill to make the faces look realistic.

What version of Poser are you using?
The newer versions can create extremely detailed and realistic faces. It might just be that you didn't have the renderer set up to handle the textures the way you wanted. It should be able to do what-ever you need.

Good luck
We're using Poser 5 and are very satisfied with the mesh created by poser (especially given the invested time) - from that part it fits my needs perfect. The problem with the textures is there seems to be no way to export high detailed ones, the render work with 4096^2 textures, but we can only export/save 512x512 textures; and it's only one texture while we're looking for additional detail-maps (also a bit less "clean" look of the faces would be great). Is there a away to get something of these from poser? A texture with higher quality would be great already.

@Salsa: ZBrush seems to be very interesting - I've began reading about it and got the demo. But it also seems a bit very different.:) How much time do you think need to be invested to get the faces we're looking for (to get into the program and then model the faces)? Is ZBrush easy if it has made "click"?:) Or is it possible to work on a poser mesh and use ZBrush to get more detail into it (work on the textures, ..). Does ZBrush allow to export some additional maps (bump, specular, reflection, etc.)?

thanks a lot (to everyone)
