Blender is a very good free, open source program for modeling, rendering, and animation. It can export models in a variety of different formats. In my experience, AC3D (.ac) format is pretty easy to parse, since it is a plaintext format. There are plenty of tutorials on how to parse AC3D files, such as this.

And as for "simple modelling program", I am not sure one exists, the learning curve on Blender is fairly steep, so you will have to invest some time before you will b e able to model your castle.
