For my game, I am going to make my own font system. I have a bitmap of all the characters. Since the characters are evenly spaced out, it is not too hard to get a RECT structure for any of the characters. My problem now is getting the characters to a texture (LPDIRECT3DTEXTURE9?). Anyone know a good way of doing this? Any help is appreciated, as always:) -Dev578

Have a look of d3dfont.h{cpp} in D3D8's framework, it does exacly what you want. And it should be very easy to migrate the code to d3d9.

If you're using Direct3D9, try ID3DXFont first. If it works well for you, use it.

Thank you Coder, but I wan't to try to avoid using ID3DXFont. Anyone know where I can get a copy of d3dfont.h/cpp? I would like to take a look at it to see how it is done, but I don't want to download the entire DirectX 8 SDK.
