If I said that DirectX is slower than QBasic, I understood that it is not. (I hope it)! But the word "slow" is now my best friend, cause I have another (or the same, I don''t know) problem. I use DirectInput7 for my Game-Library and if I want move an 64x64 Surface with the mouse it is very very slow. It flickers until you are able to get red eyes !!! The Surface is unsharp on fast motion. Why I always have the stupid problems. Am I disabled ??? Please help me !! I have tested this programm on three different machines. (Celeron 500, pentium 166, Amd K6 450 3D Now) On all machines I get the same ! I want to use the 64x64 Surface for my SpaceShip, but with this performance I have no chance !! I someone gives me his E-MAIL Adress then I can post them my demo. Then he can look and see my problem !!

It sounds that the performance is low. You can modify your codes somewhere to impove it.

1. smaller the 64*64 surface
2. store the surface in the video memory
3. optimize your codes
4. use inline codes

Hope this help! :-)

Send me off your code if you like, I''ll take a look at it later today.

A couple things you may want to keep in mind:
1) Assuming fullscreen, 2-buffer setup: blit *everything* to the back buffer, then flip once per frame to the front buffer. (For windowed, blit once per frame to the front buffer.)
2) You may want to try putting a Sleep(1); at the end of your render loop. I found this helps immensely, because otherwise everything flickers. (Not sure why, but it helps.)

E-Mail address is below, on the sig.
