I have an edit box that pops up in a dialog box when my program starts. However I dont know how to handle it properly. in the dialog procedure i have IDC_EDIT1 under WM_COMMAND and if I place a breakpoint there the program stops when i click on the edit box so i know im on the right track but I dont know how to store what the user inputs into the edit box. I want them to input a number to use as a seed for srand() but this number can be anything so i cant use buttons/checkboxes or anything. Can someone tell me how to store the number the user inputs? I hope i have explained it ok. I appreciate any help immensely and thankyou for your time "People spend too much time thinking about the past, whatever else it is, its gone"-Mel Gibson, Man Without A Face

Thanks a lot ive been trying for ages to figure out a way to store the text. Yes you are right I do want the user to hit ok before storing it and that bit I know how to do.

Thanks again.
