After I did not get a helpful reply to my last post, i''m trying it again. So the problem is, that when i try to compile a DirectMusic app the linker says CLSID_DirectMusicPerformance is a not resolved extern symbol. the #includes are: #include "stdafx.h" #include #include #include #include the libraries: kernel32.lib user32.lib gdi32.lib winspool.lib comdlg32.lib advapi32.lib shell32.lib ole32.lib oleaut32.lib uuid.lib odbc32.lib odbccp32.lib and exspecially: winmm.lib dsound.lib dxguid.lib but since it is a linking error the problem must be a missing library. Does anyone know what it could be?

I haven''t even looked at DM/DS yet, so I don''t know how much help I''ll be. I opened up the DM sample files and found that they were linking : winmm.lib dxerr8.lib dxguid.lib

You have winmm.lib and dxguid.lib, so I would think that the culprit here would be dxerr8.lib. Hope this helps!

I have already solved the problem.

Ironically is was in fact a #include problem. What was missing was the initguid.h (dont ask me why the linker complained instead of the compiler).

Thanks for your post nevertheless.
