Its finally out!! AND IT KICKS ASS!
i'm downloading it right now, 5 more minutes :)
Fastest Download Mirror that I could find. I have a slow DSL connection, max download speed is 200 kb/s and I am maxing out, friend has cable, and he has a max download speed of 700 kb/s, and he gets around 350 kb/s max. Thought I would share, since it's in high demand. Oh, if you get a message saying to many users, try refreshing a couple times, for an open slot.
jesus christ this game rocks [wow]
good thing i pre ordered it a couple days ago :P

What are the sys-requirments? BF1942 kicked major ass, I hope I can play BF2 too.
From the readme:
========================================================================
System Requirements
========================================================================
- Operating System
Windows XP (32 Bit Version)
- CPU
Battlefield 2 supports the following processors:
Intel Pentium 4
Intel Xeon
Intel Pentium Extreme Edition
Intel Celeron D
AMD Athlon XP
AMD Athlon 64
AMD Athlon 64-FX
AMD Sempron processor
- Minimum Specification:
CPU: 1.7 Ghz
RAM: 512 Mb
Video Card: NVidia GeForce FX 5700, ATI Radeon 8500 or ATI Radeon 9500
with 128 Mb of RAM
- Recommended Specification:
CPU: 2.4 Ghz
RAM: 1 Gb
Video Card with at least 256 Mb of RAM
- Video Cards
Battlefield 2 only supports the following video cards:
Radeon X700 (PCIe)
Radeon X600 (PCIe)
GeForce 6600 (PCIe)
GeForce PCX 5900 (PCIe)
GeForce 5800 Series (AGP)
ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition
ATI Radeon X800 PRO
ATI Radeon 9800 Series
ATI Radeon 9600 Series
ATI Radeon 9550 (RV350LX)
ATI Radeon 9500 / 9700 Series
ATI Radeon 8500 Series
ATI Radeon X300 Series
NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra
NVidia GeForce 6800 GT
NVidia GeForce 6800
NVidia GeForce FX 5950 Series
NVidia GeForce FX 5900 Series
NVidia GeForce FX 5700 Series
Why would they support even the R8500 series, and the FX family which we all know stinks, and the 6600 PCIe, but not the 6600GT AGP? I don't get it.
"Oh, you don't have the PCIe version?"
"No. I have the AG.." *click* "W?TF?!?"
At any rate.. BF2 is awesome, despite a number of nagging issues -- no 1280x1024 support so most of us LCD owners are left to fend with 1280x960 (no, the '1942 1280x1024 .con hack does not work) -- and the abysmal key binding code. Man, even *my* DInput code and binding functions work better :P

Time to buy a new computer.
Thanks for posting the requirements before I downloaded.
edit: What? No 1280x1024!

The "supported cards" list is not usually very strict with regard to actual hardware compatibility. It just means that the cards on the list have passed the tests performed by the developers against their game.
For example, the game will work on all Geforce FX and 6xxx series - but FX 5200 (again for example) will run it much much slower than FX 5950 which is officially supported.
Also, I'd expect that newer Matrox cards would handle the game just fine, even though the developers hadn't tested their game on the said hardware.
Disclaimer: this is just advisory information - I can't speak on the developer's behalf on this case.

I just tried it. The best 20 mins of the week. I killed 11 guys by base camping with a tank. That game kicks so much ass.
no aircraft in the demo nes :P
I cant stop playing. BF2 > nam > 42. cant wait til 3
on a side note, i can't fly helicopters to save my life, i tried and tried in bf vietnam with no luck. i kicked some major ass with the planes, but the damn helis.. couldn't control em. and yes, i fly with a joystick.
I got the demo and when I try to open the demo I get an error window that when I click on it it doesn't display anything. Anyone else have this problem.
