I want to know why I see sooooooo many post by unregistered users? Is it that hard to register? If you liked this web site you would register, so that 1)People would respect your postings, and 2)I am sure that advertising increases for the larger number of people registered(because if they are registered they are more likely to come back again and again and again). And besides, I am sure that there are no good reasons NOT to register (Unless you are anarchist, and feel that releasing personal information in any way is helping those government bastards take over the world...)! So PLEASE! For the Love of JEBUS(Simpsons thing...) Go register today! For the sake of Humanity! Thank you all. Brent Robinson "Ich bin deinem Vatter!"

Hay SysOp: couldn''t you change "my profile | register | bookmarks...." line to include login - the only way I''ve found of logging in from the home page, which is a bind cos normally I don''t have anything interesting to say about the messages, so I can''t be arsed to login. But when do have something to say I have come out of the topic and back home to login, and then back into topic.....
BTW: Why can you change you profile if you''re not logged in?

Also, the reply box has all those nice icons - wouldn''t it be nice if there was a way inserting them into the reply text without having to remember all those bracket, colon, comma combos....

PS: What''s the combo for a skull and cross bones?

The sole reason I registered was because I had made two anonymous posts, and I felt compelled to make another post. If I was going to keep posting, then a name would be good to identify me.

Beelzebub, I believe going to "my profile" actually logs you in... or something. Also, remembering smilies isn''t a memory excercise... try typing a colon and open bracket, then tilting your head to the left. If the board doesn''t automatically convert a smily, then at least othr people will know what you mean.

Um, no.

If you don''t have an email addy, then get one at hotmail or something. Hell, just enter a fake address... The only message sent to it is a confirmation that you did indeed register.

I don''t know what you were smoking when you said you have to give out personal information. The only information required for registration is a username, password, and the email address which I''ve already mentioned. Where''s the personal information?

I also use software to filter ads... doesn''t mean I''m not going to register at a forum.

And yes, people could create all sorts of bogus identities. However, the point you''re raising there makes as much sense as submarines with windscreen wipers. Whenever I post, people can associate me with my previous posts. When you''re anonymous, you''d have to list all your previous posts for people to achieve that -- and even then, people wouldn''t believe you.

Have a nice day.

Junk mail - GameDev seem to be good at not sending junk email - don't think I've ever had any from them. (If that's not too many negatives in one sentence)

Also, you anonymous posters, if you don't want to put your name to what you type, is what you've got to say really that important?
Check out one of the business forums, somebody was asking for games to publish - a prefectly reasonable thing to do - and got an anonymous "joke" reply which really makes a farce of the sensible questions/requests!

While it''s noble to hate advertising, try to see it from our point of view. That small annoyance is what makes this site possible. If you think we''re taking in tons of money from this site, then think again. It''s November, and you can ask any of the staff as to how much money we''ve personally taken in this year from profits on the site. In each case the answer is zero dollars, nothing.. nada.

This site isn''t free to produce, but we don''t charge a thing to use it. I would hope that you wouldn''t circumvent the only means we have of keeping this site up. It wouldn''t hurt to click on any of the game development related banners by the way.

I have recieved no junk mail from registering here. And I filter out junk mail from my inbox. After the filter is set, straight to the trash can for you . This site does not ask too much, but seeing as I have nothing to hide, why not post all of my details. I even included my mailing address as proof.

This site is worth the hassle

If you''re so opposed to advertising I dont think you should be surfing the web at all. Do you rip all the ads out of a magazine before you''ll read it? Software filtering out ads is like a big "F*ck you!" to the people working hard to keep this site and any other site you visit going. People just trying to make enough bucks to break even. Would it kill you to click on an ad once a week or something? I detest something around here and i dont have any custom software to filter it out.

I agree... Bad language and flames. Although I *could* filter those out
