Team name: BrainFluid Project name: Guitarist Joe Brief description: An evil tone-deaf genius has stolen all of the good music in the world and replaced it with emo, pop, and RAP! Now the effects of listening to the music is making the planet's population go tone-deaf and do cheesy things such as attempt walking while dancing the robot, something most of them are now unable to actually do. So now it is up to Guitarist Joe to save the world by restoring rock to the world. Using his awesome electrical guitar and super cool music skills Joe must find a way to stop this insanity before the evil genius's plan for world-domination is complete. The game is a 3D Platformer. Combat involves Joe whacking badies with his guitar, blasting sound at them, area attacks, and possibily more. Our goal is to create a fun game filled with humour. Target aim: Shareware Compensation: Credit otherwise all I can say is that you will probably have a great time working on this crazy game. Of course I will try to sell the game and everyone will receive part of the profit but I cannot promise anything for sure due to the realities of game development and the uncertainly of actually being able to make any money at all. Technology: Conitec's A6 Engine Any tool for artwork is fine as long as you own a legal license. Talent needed: Artists skilled in creating cartoony models, and 2D artwork. Team structure: Our team is being helped by many of the top developers from the Conitec's A6 Engine community. They are not full time members of the team because they are busy with other projects but are helping when they can. Dennis (Dennis_Fantasy) as an artist. He is one of the developers behind Realms of Fantasy (which was featured in the 3DGS User Magazine) and other projects. Paul (light_mystic) as a voice actor, music, and sound effects guy. He was a developer for the game Action Bird and works on The Rebel Planet and is working on some other projects I'm not allowed to mention at the moment. Daniel (Rhuarc) as an advisor. He is the creator of the RazorAI system, a game called TerrorXero , works on The Rebel Planet, and too many other products and games to list here. The only member working on the game full time is myself. I am the game's lead programmer. I worked on Action Bird, RazorAI, and am working on a game called Acceleration: Peel Out Website: There isn't one for the game yet but you can view team members work at sites listed above. Contacts: Email: programs@charter.net MSN: wizrealms@yahoo.com Yahoo messagner: wizrealms@yahoo.com Additional Info: View the plan for the game's first cutscene.

Good idea, but it looks like you're alienating possible audiences by providing specific music genres. I'd recommend just saying, "Bad music".

I do believe one major benefit of being a hobbyist is that you don't need to sell into ecumenical people-pleasing. ;)

I find it better to leave one's options open. Especially when selling the product.

Ah, good point.

Regardless, no more dirtying up his thread. Looks like a fun plotline, and I'm sure it could soon be accompanied by an equally entertaining game. Best of luck!

Of course there is going to be Rap in the game! How would we be able to feature them if we didn't have music for it. Silly people.

Anyone who is alienated simply because their choice is music is the GAME'S WORLD so called "bad music" is just being silly. Personally none of us on the team have any problem with the listed music and we considered many different styles from classical to even rock itself. But it turned out we could just come up with enemies that were more fun if we went with Emo,rap, and pop Also just because Rock is going to save our world doesn't mean we aren't going to poke jokes at it as well.

Looks like a fun plotline, and I'm sure it could soon be accompanied by an equally entertaining game. Best of luck!

Thank you and we hope it will turn out that way.

It's sad to see how terribly offensive small indie games can get. I saw one guy who made a game called something like "When homos attack" (or something along those lines). He made the game in Allegro as a 2D action game, fully fleshed out. It was about a guy who was turning everybody into 'homos' with the 'gay ray' and you have to stop the madness. The thing that bothered me the most was the good ratings. So I guess you could go forward with offending three demographics at once, cause it looks like you can get away with it.

Do you realize now you are offending anyone who got offended by the game's plot further by undermining their intelligence? Look, when you say something like, 'rap, emo, and pop are bad music', people who like those kinds of music (and you just covered a huge spectrum) are going to feel alienated while they play your game. It's not a very attractive thing to have your taste blatantly insultant and satired while your doing something that's supposed to be fun. But hey, if that's your thing, then go ahead. Good luck on making a great game.

Ok first off. I am by no means am trying to insult anyone. The silly part was said because that is my thoughts about it everyone has their rights to their own thoughts and beliefs. If your choice of music doesn't agree with the game and it insults you enough then you likely don't buy many video games anyway. Everyone's game can be critized for something that could likely alienate their audience. Also as stated the team itself doesn't have any problems with the type of music we listed, infact one of our members likes rapping quite a bit. We simply know that the game will be better because of it and no matter what we do someone will not be happy and just because rock is listed as the so-called "good" music doesn't mean all the members of our team like that either. We found it easier to use Rock because it met our needs for the games not because of any favorism. As you should be able to see there are members on the team that represents all the types of the music and they will of course make sure we don't show favorism.

Yes I also agree video games are getting offensive but making a racist game were the goal is to kill all the [insert race here], or kill all the [insert belief here] is very different than simply _joking_ about what music is bad and what music is good. It's a sad world when people can't tell the different. Also thought I would say because of the style we are going for it's not like your going to be killing musicians in a showder of gore, instead simply wack em on the head and the get knocked unconcious.

Also aren't there more important things in life than music, I mean it's alright for my character to go around bashing people's heads in with a guitar... BUT FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE listing rap, emo, pop, or any other music as bad music is the END OF THE WORLD! Hope you got my point ;) . Please let this thread fill it's purpose of recruiting not debating.

*nods*

Take it easy on the guy. If you think his jokes are alienating or rude, then you probably don't need to be hanging out in this thread, anyway. Personally, I think they're perfectly acceptable satirical humor: the kind that is frequently employed in smash-hit media such as South Park, the Simpsons, Saturday Night Live, Mad TV, and other shows that, alienating as they may be, rake in tons of viewers.

Being politically correct is not the only market strategy.

I also daresay that I don't think GoldMage is being politically incorrect, anyway: I just think we're all hijacking his thread, because we're all much too opinionated.

So come on. I'm sure he's appreciated his free bumps, but let's either give him a thumbs up or move on with our lives. Heck, I like some emo music, and I don't feel at all offended or alienated.

Guitarist Joe gets my thumbs up- and I hope you're getting some useful feedback, in the midst or our little squabbles over here!
