Hi.
I've bought Div Games Studio 2 (it hads some basic changes to the first version), and i must say that i was *very* disapointed.
If you don't have any programming experience, it may be good for you, because it uses a basic language based on c/pascal and while you learn the language you get started in games programming.

BUT, if you have an experience in programming you'll be very desapointed (like i was).
If this is you're case, go get DJGPP and ALLEGRO. They're free and use *real* programming languages.

I don't have any programming experience. Of coarse, I'm going to learn a real programming language (c, c++), but I liked that they advertised that it was a very user friendly language (from the demo im not sure that's true) and that you could make games in a fraction of the time (not sure either). I guess I wont get that then (unless some else has something to say about it .

The other one was DARK BASIC or something. I havn't heard much about this one. Anyone know anything about it?

It''s the same old story: pick the right tool. If you plan on making simple games and can stomach procedural languages, Div, DB or A4 can get you up and running.

If you''re planning on anything even moderately complex, buy an OO language and get/make a good 3D graphics library. The number one concern for most game programmers is FPS. And all those "game makers" suffer horribly in that area once you push them even a little bit.
