How to debug a DX program with VC++?

There is something going wrong with my directx (DDraw) program. When I hit debug (after setting some breakpoints) the black screen loads up and the program breaks. This is fine except that I can only see a black screen. When the program reaches the breakpoint it stops but doesnt minimize the DX (full screen)window so I can''t see anything but a black screen which i cant minimize. Therefore i cant step through the program and see where it is going wrong. Can anyone tell me how i am supposed to debug this program? The only way i can kind of see what is going wrong is to use sprintf and messagebox() but this isnt very helpful in trying to find what is going wrong. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for the reply Crazy_Vasey . How do I set-up dual monitors?
can i do it over a network? because I have my laptop hooked up to my desktop at the moment. I also have a spare monitor (all be it an old svga 14"). Only I have no idea how to use 2 monitors.

As I don''t have a second monitor or a network I have no idea. Theres bound to be somebody on here who''ll know.

I think you can set it up over a network.

Ok thanks Crazy_Vasey. I shall start another topic about dual monitor set up then.
