Hey Guys, I just passed by www.projectoffset.com and I am really impressed with the graphics they were able to achieve. From what I've read, it seems as though they are a three-man self funded team, and so far they have achieved remarkable results. Sitting in awe after watching both demos, I am wondering how the three man team could achieve this by themselves? They list features such as real time motion blur and normal mapping which enables the engine to somehow reduce 10's of thousands of polygons to a mere couple thousand. They have real time gameplay vids and they are absolutely amazing... any thoughts on this?

It's pretty.

Though this is a three-man self-funded team of programmers. I'm almost certain their whole team (which is the same team that created Savage: The Battle for Newerth) includes a bit more people.

It's not that hard to understand why a team of three dedicated programmers could have achieved something like in the videos. The normal mapping isn't really that impressive, since it's almost a standard feature in modern game engines (DOOM 3 and Battlefield 2, from what I understand, both use it extensively). The only thing that really struck out about the video to me was the motion blur, which seems really cool (it's also some kind of selective motion blur).

Also, since the video was released a few weeks ago, I'm tempted to say that this is a repost.

It looks ok, but it is slow like hell. From that video, it appears the speed is around 1 FPS, and I am sure they run it on their most powerful computer.

Look at the lower res video, or get a faster computer. It ran at a fluid framerate for me.

Really? WTF? My computer is perfectly capable of playing any video. Must be this god damn USB sound card that is dragging it.

Your soundcard must have been a fork in a previous life.
Chess is played by three people. Two people play the game; the third provides moral support for the pawns. The object of the game is to kill your opponent by flinging captured pieces at his head. Since the only piece that can be killed is a pawn, the two armies agree to meet in a pawn-infested area (or even a pawn shop) and kill as many pawns as possible in the crossfire. If the game goes on for an hour, one player may legally attempt to gouge out the other
