Using Voice Recognition

I've heard of this being done, but I don't know what the software needed to do this is. I was looking into creating a system that allowed me to use voice recognition to start programs, etc. on my computer. Do any of you know of the programs that are required for this? Thanks in advance.

on windows you can easily hook up their speach sdk. it takes 15 minutes from installation to work to get simple voice activation in windows apps. its all COM C++ and XML so if you've ever programmed windows you should be right at home.
