Anyway here taken a look at D, or freebasic? I dont have links sorry, just try google. I have actually messed around with freebasic, and it looks pretty cool, its syntax is obviously VB, but it has some cool features from C like pointers. As for D, I havent tried it, but it also looks cool, its supposed to be a language that fixes alot of the issues of C/C++.

VB has pointers, you just have to do a very minimal amount of work to get access to them. I don't have access to the resources I learned from myself at the moment, but a quick Google turns up this if you're interested.

Well yeah, I know VB has variables, but they arent really much use. That and they arent a native part of the language, so using them is more work then you gain.

Also that link you paste doesnt work.

I was just making this post, because I saw these two languages, and thought they are actually pretty cool, and deserve more exposure.

In much the same way that Java could be considered to fix a lot of issues with C and C++. It does things differently. Personally, I haven't seen anything worth bothering to download the compiler to test out.

Never heard of freebasic. *shrug*

Ahem, that'd be pointers, not variables, wouldn't be much of a language at all with out those. They're perfectly native though, just an undocumented function.

As for the link, it works fine for me, so I'm not sure why it isn't loading for you.

VB has no native pointer support, I am aware of the varptr function, lot of good it does you though. What I'm saying is that alot of the features that make pointers useful in C/C++ is fairly lacking in VB
like you cannot make two variables point to the same address, at least not easily. I mean I know how to do it, but its certainly nothing like.

pointer = &variable

**Edit another function thats not well documented is Address of, which returns the address of a function. Using it, you can actually have callbacks in VB**

But anyways this wasnt really the point of the discussion, the point was, I saw two new cool languages that I thought would be cool to see other peoples opinions on.

Well actually D is more of an alteration of C/C++ with some additions from languages like java, only its compiled.
