In the spirit of sharing our pain with the whole community to get pitty and compassion from the other members :D, allow me to tell you how much my toothache sucks. It's a wisdom tooth that got fucked up last year, and I didn't feel like removing it because, well, it sucks to have your teeth removed. In the spring it hurt for a few days, but wasn't so bad. An aspirin would take care of it, then it stopped bothering me. But now this shit started to hurt again, and it hurts really bad! I have to take some strong (prescription) painkillers, and I HATE taking painkillers, but in this case I have no choice. The doctor said to take one every 6 hours, but I try to take only 2/day, because, well, I don't like ruining my liver and stuff. The painkiller last for about 4 hours, so I guess you can tell how happy I am lately :D And yes, I am going to the dentist to pull it out, but the appointment is for Tue afternoon, so until then I will have a very nice extended weekend :D Anyway, make me feel better and talk about your previous toothaches :)

I get toothaches (although not terrible ones) every time my braces are tightened, but, aside from that, I don't think I've ever gotten one. And they do suck. More then most things, because I can't ignore it when my teeth are hurting. I mean, if you cut yourself by accident, sure, it hurts, but you can ignore it. But not with a toothache. It stays. I feel your pain.

Oh, BTW, I'm all for having teeth removed. Be a man. The only lows with getting teeth pulled are the needles in the gums and top of the mouth (which really hurts) and drooling blood and salive afterwards [grin] It makes you look like a Zombie though, so that might be construed as a high point instead..

Oh, mine did too (like 10 years ago).
But now one of them just got fucked up (cavity). I heard that it's normal for them to go bad after a while, so I guess others had this problem too.

I know how it is, I had two removed so far. But the needles in the gums are normal for any procedure, and they are not bad.

I've had 4 taken out [smile] 1 which was coming out of the side of my gums and pushing out the one beneath it, which hurt like hell, by the way, and three more to make space in my mouth for the rest of my teeth... And it's not the gums that gets you the worst, it's the top of the mouth.

I never had a wisdom tooth removed before, only two normal ones (that were dead anyway). I hope this shit will come out fine, but I will ask the dentist to give me soem extra anesthesia just in case since this one is alive.

The reason wisdom teeth are so often recommended for extraction (one of the reasons, anyway) is because they are often very difficult to brush properly, being so far back in the mouth. It's also recommended to have them extracted fairly early in life; I believe late teens works well. Wait too long and they impact bone, and extraction becomes a pretty traumatic procedure. That's the boat I'm sitting in right now; I only had two grow in, they're now impacted, and if they ever go bad I'll be in a world of hurt. [grin]

I'm pretty sure getting wisdom teeth pulled are NOT as pleasant as getting regular teeth pulled (Which is horrible in itself). My girlfriend had to go to an oral surgeon to get it done. Not just a couple shots in the gums either the full blown gas and unconsiousness bit. I'm glad I was born without widom teeth!

Dentists in Scotland do not recommend this practise - they prefer life-long treatment on them for money :)

Oh well..
I hope my dentist can remove that shit, I don't want to go to a hospital or whatever to have it removed there.

My wisdom teeth are all hiding behind my other molars. I would get them removed, but having no money and no insurance, I guess I will have to wait. Just as long as it doesn't kill me. I haven't any toothaches yet though. I guess I've been lucky.

Go to the grocery store and get cloves. Grind your own if you can, get the freshest pre-ground if thats all you can. Mix it up in some water and hold half a mouthful of the solution to the hurting tooth for a couple minutes. You'll notice it smells quite familiar to the pastes the dentist puts on your teeth before toothwork.

Clove is a highly effective local anesthetic, but dont do this too much. Prolonged exposure to that much clove can damage your nerves.

But it does help.

My wisdom teeth give me grief every once in a while, sadly, they've been coming through for about 3 years now, they are only just past showing the tops, and if I happen to get a bit of crisp or other sharp food trapped in the surround gum...my pupils instantly shrink, and I'm in agony. I just live with it for now, the pain rare gets bad luckely, plus I have room for them to come through. Just go see your dentist and get em extracted if you are having problems with them.

Edit: Reread your original post, missed the bit about getting them pulled...

Due to my procrastination at going to see the dentist, I was rolling around on the floor last weekend waiting for the vicodin to kick in.

Pain rarely phases me, but toothaches...
I think I'd rather cut off my arm.

Amen to that :)
I hate going to the dentist, but this time I am actually looking forward to :)

I really do hate getting teeth pulled. They had to take two of my teeth before I could get braces, and man did that suck. Of course, I'm generally not good at dealing with pain in the teeth.

I have a tooth ache right now caused by sinuses. I have a cold, so the congestion is making my tooth be overly sensitive when I'm drinking something cold.
