Anyone tried Microsoft's new picture managing software? (I am not sure what to call it) http://www.microsoft.com/max/ It is built on WinFX and the GUI looks nifty (though I usually prefer the classic windows look) The first thing I thought when I saw it was picasa! edit: screenshots one two three [Edited by - dohtem on September 13, 2005 6:24:17 PM]

Neat, it is like Picasa.

It has a bit too much of the recent Microsoft "two frames" look but I think it's a decent answer to iPhoto for sure.

Do you mean the way they border each picture and then border the selected one as well? If so, yes, I agree, that's kind of annoying.

The coolest part about it is supposed to be the sharing functionality, which a friend who messed around with it for a while said was fatastically elegant.

It looks pretty nice. I don't have any pictures though so I really have no use for it.

Wow it's really cool. Very polished and simple. The sharing stuff is awesome too, my roomates and I tried it out. Kinda like an email box, but not really..just..simple...

Sent you the sample pictures folder:) It's pretty sleek. You do have to have your computer on with max running for others to download the pictures, since there is no central server, but that's expected. Crazy simple. Send me some more. We can have a new gdnet picture list! 56k=who cares!

Oh, and I got yours, easy as pie. I just wonder whether this could be the new way to spread the gman.

I love the non modal-ness of it...how the slide show will run in the little windows and the big windows at the same time.

I can't get it to install. I get an error telling me to uninstall 'Windows Workflow Foundation', so I uninstalled all of WinFX beta 1 but no luck. Can't for the like of me find any info on the web about it. :(

The cool thing is that the UI stuff might be almost all markup, and it might have only minimal backend stuff for the transferring/login stuff. All the fancy effect like when you resize your view pictures will rearrange themselves to fit on the screen, that's all part of the document tree stuff.

If anyone else gets the error installing, telling you to uninstall 'windows workflow framework', I managed to get around the problem. It's a lengthy process though so if anyone else gets the error, yell out and I'll answer.

Now I've actually used it, damn impressive program I'd have to say. I expect this may become something of a tech demo demonstrating the various .net foundation systems microsoft are working. The whole integration of everything is absolutly superb. Personally this makes me very, very excited as what winFX will have to offer programmers. [smile] [smile] [smile]
