I want to start getting into writing some games in Java. I was going to check out the article on this site about Java game programming, but I realize it is quite old, and some aspects of Java have been updated since than. So does anyone know of any good tutorials to get me started. I don't mind if it is applets or otherwise, just a good introduction to Java game programming. Thanks.

I found this tutorial to be very handy in learning Java2D... Goes from your first window to a full invaders clone...

The space invaders tutorial is great... and of course you can find a lot of good stuff/links over on javaranch.com. Also, Adam King's tutorials in the articles section here on gdnet helped me a lot. An experienced programmer can breeze through them. If you're familiar with c/c++, you'll pick up the syntax in no time. Have fun!

I found http://math.hws.edu/javanotes/ very useful for learning java, although it is not about games specifically.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

The Space Invaders tutorial sounds great, so I'm going to read that today.

Thanks again.
