If possible I would like to get opinions from people here in this forum about some thing I have in mind. For those of you who have played Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Parasite Eve and Clock tower this question is pointed at you. Would you like to see a horror game use a 2 player coop mode offline? For example playing Resident Evil 2 or Resident Evil 4 with this kind of option. Thanks to all those who reply...
Hmmm.... interesting.

It'd need to work only by a system hook-up, LAN kinda thing.... split screen would -totally- kill the atmosphere. Being alone and feeling helpless is part of what makes these games scary.... you'd need to be able to split the two up at least in occasional intervals if it was co-op. That way, atop the sudden isolation, you get a sense of panic, and worry for your partner as well. Would be difficult to pull off, but this is the only way I see it working.

A 2 player horror game with a predator/prey relationship would be kinda neat, too.

I agree about the LAN.

Also, the puzzles could be made where it takes two people to complete. Say the puzzle has switches and they can only be activated sequentially. This way the “team” would have to split apart and be in separate areas to do the puzzle correctly.

Just an idea I think would be pretty neat.
I have read your posts and I agree with you on several points. And I am glad you replied to this post. In fact I am seriously considering using your ideas. Because they are worth trying. I appreciate your time and effort.

I know this is not the right forum for asking this, but are either of you interested in possibily working on a horror game? I am just curious.

You can im me in yahoo messenger under this screen name scripter_in_training

or you can email me at the same name @ yahoo.com

I would like to hear from you both again..

I'm just a writer and a creative rocket engine, at this point.

I have no real skills other than fighting and cursing. :)

I know this is not the place or forum to conduct business, but you seem to have some good ideas. Not to sound rude, but I think you have what it takes to make or help create the next generation games.

I wish I had the time. I have been working 60-70 hours a week and been leaving for business conferences a lot here lately. For instance, I have to go to New Jersey next month for a week for Extol EDI. On top of that fun stuff I have to get this ShipTec system working and all of the programs programmed for it. After things settle down I might consider it.
I totally understand that you have alot to do for now. Regardless I appreciate your reply to the post. And I appreciate your opinions... Thanks again.

Out of those games, I've only played Resident Evil 4 (as I'm not a huge horror game fan), but I'd answer yes I would, as I love co-op 2 player, especially on a single screen.

Several years ago my brother and I would play a variant of Perfect Dark on the N64 we called "Zombie Attack", where we set the A.I. to fist attacks only, threw in the max number of bots, chose shotguns as the weapons, put our avatars on the same team and set the game to one-hit-kills, and that was a lot of fun.

I'm not sure how well the "horror" aspect would translate across, but it would be reasonably fun to just defend against enemies (I've never really been frightened by any game anyway; surprised occasionally, or grossed out, but not frightened).
Well a coop mode in a horror game might go well. because there might be a situation that you need a key item, and if you got a second player, they could cover you while you went to get it. That's if you really want the help. In some way you can see my point of doing two player coop offline. Of course there is gonna be alot of things people don't like. But hey its worth the try.

The way I see it (this could be cool but then again maybe not). Won't know until it happens. Thanks for the reply..

Bruce
