Hi, My sister has this problem with her Epson inkjet printer and its a problem that we have had with all Epsons and other inkjets. As you may have guessed it is to do with the cartridges and the printer head either being dirty and clogged up. Now how many of you have had this problem? If you have then what tips to resolving it have you got that are not the obvious? I am now never buying an inkjet again, gonna go for laser! ace

Every inkjet I've ever seen comes with a head/nozzle cleaning cycle. You could run that.

If you are not to worried about speed, and have replaced the ink cartridge's at least once, jump on the band wagon of the disposible printer!!!

Basically, buy a new, low-end printer and a replacement set of cart's. When that replacement set is out, donate the printer to the local charity and repeat the process. Printers have gotten so cheep these days, this is actually a viable solution. Especially considering the average user goes through the included cart's and a spare set in about 12-18 months. If I remember correctly, new printers come out every 3-6 months.

That's what I would to. All inkjets are junk.

Shame that they're insanely expensive to run really.

I've been perfectly happy with the number of HP inkjets that I've owned (from a 550C to a 1220C. I've a 5740 now).

I've been looking for what the "Good" options are for printing large docs. I'm a writer, and hopefully next year I'm going to be wanting to print off a few hardcopies of the first book in the series to let a few people read, and I don't care for the idea of printing off whatever a 600-800 page novel is on standard paper with like 5sheets a minute. (in draft)

Then again, there is always the option of sneaking into my mother's office and using their nice laser printer,...

What is the great extra cost to run a laser vs an inkjet? I've never really minded inkjets for basic use, and usually have done what I needed.

eh? they are an order of magnitude lower in costs per page last time i checked.

i have a 90 euro laser printer, beats the crap out of any inktjet ive ever seen. the cartridge will probably outlive me, or atleast the printer, so no replacement worries.

my mother one year old inktjet died last week due to clogging, and no amount of cleansing utilities would help. ive really had it with those bitches, if i want to print a photo, there are plenty of commercial services that could do that for me, better quality and at lower cost. my estimate would be that printing one normal sized photo with cheap ass inkt costs you about an euro, not counting the horible lifespan of an inktjet. wtf?

Uhh...yeah. Laser printers are cheaper than inkjets...Unless you buy a heavy-duty laser printer or a nice color laser printer.

i dont know what you mean by heavy duty, but the one i have is muchos faster than any inktjet.

color laser would be nice, but they are indeed expensive if im not mistaken.

The cartridge on my laser jet goes out every 2-3 months and cost like $50. It is only a few years old, but some of the parts are worn out, so it jams after printing like 15-20 pages at a time. HP didn't list individual replacement parts the last time I checked and I'm pretty sure it is just a couple rubber pieces that are worn out and making the paper stick to it when it heats up.

When it was running properly, it was great and I could print 50 pages in a few minutes, but now it would take hours because of paper jams [sad]
