OK... Maybe it's something I'm doing. I bought the book... going through it step by step. Got to the part where you learn how to load a mesh to a world. The code works and it loads the .X file that came with the program. So I'm like okay I'll just open 3DS max and make my own file to load. I even loaded the .x file they had as a reference in size. And I export it. But when I load the program nothing rendered to screen. I can't figure out what is going on. If I can figure out how to do this I can make my own game easy but GRRRR.

Couple of things. Does your mesh load in MeshView? Are there any errors when you try to load your mesh in your application? What does the debug spew say? If you're not sure what the Debug Spew is, check out the Forum FAQ. Lots of good info there on how to debug stuff.

Is your application lighting up your model? If so, it may be expecting your mesh to have normals at each vertex. If it doesn't, your mesh may not show up.
