Isometric Projections
Any 3D renderer can produce an isometric projection. In fact you can use it to design the tiles because it give you a mathematically correct view.
I am not advocating the use of 3D renderers I am making the point that Isometric is just a projection.
Sorry if I sound like a preacher but I have seen the light
I love Isometric games they have a certain quality that other types of games don't seem to have.

Which is better to use
Here is an Isometric rendering of one of the characters.
Notice how the arm/shoulder is occluded by the nose. You could swap the
X with the Z it depends how you want to handle it. Notice all
lines are parallel with no perspective. Perspective is just how
we view the world you just throw it away in an Isometric projection.
All done with a Z buffer.

I dont think your spamming the topic, since the topic is not really on topic much anymore. Anyways, i find this ending part of the discussion interesting. Your starting to make a little more sense to me since giving that nice weblink to 3d modeling site...very informative for a new comer to isoland on iso-perspective. My first project is tilebased using plain old rectangled tiles and im beginning to see the difficulties using them when it comes to graphics...anyways, your game art looks clean and fun looking!
