Project name BOSS Online Strategy Simulator (recursive acronym of course ;) ) Maybe the name will change later on, the project is at a very early stage of development. Brief description A web based strategy game with some similarities with NukeZone and Utopia, but with focus at infrastructure building and such things. The game also has some connections to games like Civilization or Imperialism, you have to build mines and transport resources to your cities where you can produce either consumer stuff to make money or military stuffs to go to war. The game will include an interactive map (more or less) where you can plan the infrastructure and organize your attacks. Target aim The game will be released under some Open Source license, GPL:ed probably. The aim is a nice, balanced game. The game will be played from a web browser and you will be able to log in many times in one round (one round is about 48h) because of the turn based system. You don't have to be active all the time :) Compensation Probably none, but if the game becomes very successful we could offer gold membership etc. Technology Python and ZODB for the game logic and data management, and XHTML, CSS, &#106avascript and AJAX for the interface. The game will be developed in Python with ZODB to store the data, this offers a truly object oriented way of programming without relational databases etc. Talent needed
  • Programming (Python, OO)
  • GFX-artist (2D/3D. Maps with the look of Civilization 2/3 or something like that would be nice)
  • Web designer (XHTML, CSS, &#106avascript)</li></ul> <strong><font color="royalblue">Team structure</font></strong> Currently a few people has shown interrest, but there are no &#111;ne that will be "full time" exept for me yet. My position in the project is coordinating the developers and maybe the whole project and I will also do a lot of programming myself. <strong><font color="royalblue">Website</font></strong> <a href="http://dev.blinkenlights.se/projects/boss">http://dev.blinkenlights.se/projects/boss</a> <strong><font color="royalblue">Contacts</font></strong> <a href="mailto:independence@blinkenlights.se">independence@blinkenlights.se</a> #boss-game @ <a href="http://www.quakenet.org">Quakenet</a> <strong><font color="royalblue">Misc</font></strong> This project is very new and we havn't started programming yet. I'd also like to point out that I'm a 17-years old guy that have programmed maybe five or six projects in Python whitch of none have been very large (I have however programmed in C/C++, Java and PHP a bit more so I know programming and OO). What I'm trying to say is that I'm no professinal, and I'm not looking for any professionals either. I'd like to find developers witch are at roughly the same level as I am :) If you have any questions please visit the IRC channel or send me an Email! <!--EDIT--><span class=editedby><!--/EDIT-->[Edited by - Independence on September 22, 2005 10:44:40 AM]<!--EDIT--></span><!--/EDIT--></li></ul>

Ok Xingo, if you could get to our IRC channel by 18.00 CET tomorrow it would be very nice, I'm planning on a little chat session where everyone can talk about what they want to do with the project, how much time to put into it so we can see how serious this thing will become and if we are to proceed.
The IRC-channel is #boss-game on the Quakenet-network.
