I moved my PC and it has been unused for 2 weeks. When I installed it again, I started it up and the screen remained just black, it made no beeping noises, the keyboard lights didn't flash, and so on. Only the fans were working. I pressed the power button for 7 seconds and after 7 seconds it closed down, so appearantly that function was still working. Then I resterted again, and it made a lot of beeping noises, and it said that the BIOS settings were invalid. I then pressed F2 to reset them. The time was set to 2001. After setting the BIOS settings to something OK again, everything worked fine. I just wonder, what happened? How could the bios have been messed up while moving this PC? It worked just fine 2 weeks ago.

The most likely thing is that your CMOS charge battery is weak or dead. As long as the system has power, the BIOS settings are maintained; but once the mains power is gone, the settings are held by a small battery on the motherboard. If this battery can't sustain the charge, your settings will be lost or corrupted.

The batteries are usually very easy to replace as long as you are careful (mind ESD when handling the motherboard, don't put in the battery upside down, get the right type of battery, etc.).
