Computer Science Info?

Hey guys, its getting closer to me going to University, and I want a ruff idea on whats what. I am intrested in studying computer science, but I am wondering, what will this achieve me? What kind of jobs will be open to me when I finish, and most of all, how much does it make $$ ;) I just wonder a ruff overview on this please :) Thanks alot! Rough, not ruff.

Programming jobs should be open to you when you finish. However, it is useful to note that a computer science degree is not all programming. In fact most of them have a good deal of even more difficult stuff.
How much money you make in a programming job depends on:

a) The company for whom you work.
b) The type of programming job.

Since I am as yet unfinished with my own degree, I don't actually know how much one can make once one has finished. The part-time summer job I'm doing now pays quite well though (I'm doing web programming with JSP and Struts).

In addition, the usual jobs of shelf-stacker, street sweeper etc. will still be open to you when you finish as they are now, just for completeness.

I know a few people that have graduated with different levels of CS degrees (AS and BS) that makes roughly USD $40K/yr. The people with a BS generally have much much better benefits, but all of them are doing very well for this area considering they got jobs immediately after graduation.
